News Round Up: March 2, 2020

Top Story: U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) unveiled his Five Freedoms for America’s Children plan, which includes an expansion of the Child Tax Credit and would allow parents to claim the credit monthly to help low-income families build economic security. (Senator Bob Casey)

  • In honor of Black History Month, the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities highlighted the Congressional Black Caucus’ commitment to expanding the federal Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) for workers without dependent children over the years. (CBPP)
  • According to administration officials, as part of his Fiscal Year 2021 budget, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy (D) will propose an expansion of the state’s EITC to younger workers ages 21 to 25, which would make the credit available to 60,000 more participants. (New Jersey BIZ)
