News Round-up: November 14, 2016

Here are some highlights from the past week’s news and upcoming events on family tax credit issues.
  • Last Tuesday, Donald J. Trump (R) was elected president, but little is known of how his administration will handle refundable tax credits. Tax advocates – including TCWF – encouraged Trump to outline his platform on tax credits like the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) during the campaign, but he took no clear position on tax reform or these programs (Oregon Live, Forbes, Five Thirty Eight, Vox, The Detroit News, American Banker, NPR).
  • In honor of Veteran’s Day on November 11, the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities released a report finding that 600,000 veterans and active duty military would benefit from expanding the EITC for workers not raising children (CBPP).
